FTIR Microspectroscopy Facility

NCRR logo

This NIH/NCRR-funded multi-user Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) microspectroscopy facility has been established to foster the interdisciplinary research in nanostructured biomaterials, tissues, biomedical implant - tissue interaction, cell biology, and bioimaging.

The instrumentation includes the Bruker Optics Hyperion 3000 infrared microscope and Vertex 70 FTIR spectrometer with numerous options for infrared imaging and composition mapping with down to 2-micrometer resolution in mid-IR range.

The facility is located in room 376 Campbell Hall, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Physics, and it is a part of the core research facilities of the UAB Center for Nanoscale Materials and Biointegration (CNMB).

This FTIR microspectroscopy facility primarely supports selected NIH-funded research projects at UAB.

All users should refer to this web-site for the instrumentation capabilities, specimen requirements, training, and usage opportunities.
