I'm a really simple guy.  I like to read, ponder, play, and meditate.  I believe I'm at peace with the universe, and studying and interpreting physics helps me get closer to truly sensing all the wonderful things that our universe holds.  My personal philosophy is best described as Zen Physics - I really can't describe it more than a way of trying to see the world with open eyes (where no preconceived notion is sacred).  I believe every situation can be handled by studying, learning, and then adapting your behavior as percieved to be needed.  Reading physics for comprehension and deeper meaning is one of the most enlightening things I have experienced in this little life of mine.  Besides, sometimes you just have to stop and smell the glueons.
me & max

I used to play a lot of sports, but that has fallen by the wayside over the last few years of graduate school.  I played basketball, rugby, soccer, and lacrosse.  Basketball had to be my favorite, and as soon as I get out of school I will allow myself to play it again.  I should, however, probably have surgery on my achillies tendon first.  I am a good cook, and specialize in fine vegetarian quisine.  I've been cooking restaraunt quality food for about ten years, and that's good because I love to eat.  I don't use recipies any more, I just let the smell, taste, and color be my guide. It usually turns out pretty darned good.  Too bad I can never remember how I just made it.

One last thing that I'm proud of is my old piece of junk car.  It's a 1984 Suburu Sedan, and a beautiful shade of faded metallic blue.  It's my first car.  I bought it seven years ago, with only a year or two left in it, and have kept it running smoothly (most of the time) ever since.  I taught myself how to fix it by trial and error.  I've fixed the carburator, exhaust system, fuel system, engine, timing, front axle and steering column, and all the little stuff.  It was my first-hands on experiment.  Before I started working on my car, I was always afraid to try to fix something because I though I might break it.  Taking care of my car really helped me with my confidence in the lab.  I suggest you try it, you'll be suprised how easy it is.
